Are you our next Editorial Intern?

Do you dream of being a writer? Do you like lots of creative freedom? Do you think you have what it takes to join DutchReview? We’re looking for an editorial intern that will kick some writing butt.

🚨 Applications are currently closed. Check back soon or fill out an expression of interest below!

First off, here are the details:

As an editorial intern you'll write articles every day that will be read by thousands: from the latest hotspots in Amsterdam or Rotterdam to the latest Dutch current affairs. You'll also assist with our massive social media presence.

Each internship period is six months and begins with full training to make you a writing superstar.
You'll work four days a week, with between two and three days in our office.

Throughout the whole country, of course — we’re reviewing the Dutch! However, our physical office is in Leiden at the innovative hotspot PLNT.

I loved being a DutchReview intern. I got to write stories that interested me, learnt so much about SEO, and practiced running successful social media campaigns. I went on video shoots, reviewed amazing places, and got to pitch ideas to help DutchReview succeed. It gave my resume a huge boost, and I had a great time doing it!

FYI: we're only looking for the best

Is that you? Let's check...
  • You speak English at a native level, and it is absolutely and impeccably flawless
  • You've heard of Wordpress (and maybe even know what a CMS is!)
  • You like writing (obviously)
  • You are creative and full of ideas – we mean it when we say we really like independent thinkers!
  • You know an absurd amount about the Dutch, what makes them tick, and the life of expats in the Netherlands
  • You can work independently and deal with daily deadlines
  • You are fluent in social media and familiar with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Youtube
  • You have your own, reasonable-quality laptop to work on
  • You live within commuting distance to our HQ in the stunning university town of Leiden
  • Extra points if you follow, or followed, a relevant HBO or WO study (e.g. journalism, media & communications)

Do I get paid?

You'll receive €400/month and we'll cover travel costs to and from the office.
There are also free events, access to prime hotspots, and (occasionally) free cheese to review!

Interning at DutchReview taught me so many things about digital media and the inner workings of journalism. I became very familiar with writing daily news, selecting accurate news sources, and working with social media platform tools. I also got the opportunity to visit and review several attractions, which I otherwise would’ve never seen! To top off my experience at DutchReview, my colleagues provided me with many laughs, support, and, of course, large amounts of coffee!
